Seasiders Attic for Prestatyn Football Club
Who's Who

This section lists people who have been involved with the Seasiders over the years. I have tried to include as many as possible but have barely scratched the surface of what is the biggest and therefore most important part of this project by far.

If you have ever had involvement with the club as a player, official or committee member then please contact me with brief details (250 words maximum) of your part in Town's proud history.

If your names not there, don't get annoyed - get in touch!

LENNON Jimmy born DD.MM.YYYY - died 23.01.2010

James Shaw Ramsey Lennon was a bustling inside forward who spent one season with Prestatyn in 1962/63. he began his career with Scottish non-league side Blantyre Victoria before being snapped up by Falkirk in 1950/1, making 16 appearances and scoring once. However he didn't stay long at Brockville Park and at the end of the season Jimmy was transferred to Linfield but failed to settle with the Belfast blues and returned to Scotland to join Cowdenbeath for whom he made three appearances (no goals). Jimmy then moved 'south' as part of the Scottish revolution at Rhyl and played a part in the Lilywhites' Welsh Cup successes of 51/2 and 52/3, but although featuring in many of the early rounds he failed to pull on the white shirt in either final. After leaving Belle Vur he played for Caernarfon Town before signing for Prestatyn in 1962/3. A popular man, Jimmy is well remembered with great fondness by many of the older generation at Prestatyn Town.

Manchester born Les Stopford signed for Chester on June 1st 1960 but in three seasons at Sealand Road he only made six first team appearances, scoring once. RICHARDSON Garbutt 'Gary' born 24.10.1938

A tall commanding centre half who had a much travelled league career beginning with Huddersfield Town for whom he signed on October 1st 1955. The Terriers were relegated from the first division that season and two years later Garbutt moved to Preston North End, signing terms on July 1st 1957. A Geordie by birth, Garbutt - or Gary as he was popularly known - spent two years at Deepdale making 15 appearances with one goal to his credit. His next move was to Accrington Stanley which proved disastrous as a serious injury cut short his career then Stanley dropped out of the league midway through 1961/62 season. On the road to recovery, Garbutt had trials at Carlisle before signing on for Halifax Town in November 1962. He made 20 appearances at the Shay, scoring once and was released in June 1964. His next port of call was Barrow where he made 30 appearances scoring five goals but although the Bluebirds finished in 21st place and were re-elected to the league, his contract was cancelled and he moved into non-league football with Netherfield (now called Kendal Town) of the Lancashire Combination. He moved into North Wales football in 1966/67 and signed for Prestatyn at the start of 1967/68 after a league career that totalled 65 appearances which produced seven goals.
